چکیده

The loss of complexity in ageing hypothesis (LOCH) has found support from EEG studies, most which adopted signal-domain measures. present study the largest Lyapunov exponent (LLE) to measure a nonlinear dynamical systems perspective. A total 144 participants were included and divided into young, young-old old-old groups. Both sensor-space source-space results showed significantly lower LLE for older than younger adults. age-related differences region-dependent, being prominent frontal region, followed by bilateral temporal regions. occipital region non-significant differences. Significant reduction posterior cingulate was also observed virtue analysis. We evaluated relationships between other intriguing result negative correlation Lempel-Ziv (LZC). decrease indicated higher regularity dynamics, while LZC randomness signal domain. new findings LOCH demonstrating simultaneous increase randomness.

Decreased resting-state brain activity complexity in schizophrenia characterized by both increased regularity and randomness.

Schizophrenia is characterized by heterogeneous pathophysiology. Using multiscale entropy (MSE) analysis, which enables capturing complex dynamics of time series, we characterized MSE patterns of blood-oxygen-level-dependent (BOLD) signals across different time scales and determined whether BOLD activity in patients with schizophrenia exhibits increased complexity (increased entropy in all time...

A local Echo State Property through the largest Lyapunov exponent

Echo State Networks are efficient time-series predictors, which highly depend on the value of the spectral radius of the reservoir connectivity matrix. Based on recent results on the mean field theory of driven random recurrent neural networks, enabling the computation of the largest Lyapunov exponent of an ESN, we develop a cheap algorithm to establish a local and operational version of the Ec...

Analysis of Human Standing Balance by Largest Lyapunov Exponent

The purpose of this research is to analyse the relationship between nonlinear dynamic character and individuals' standing balance by the largest Lyapunov exponent, which is regarded as a metric for assessing standing balance. According to previous study, the largest Lyapunov exponent from centre of pressure time series could not well quantify the human balance ability. In this research, two imp...

Characterization of the domain chaos convection state by the largest Lyapunov exponent.

Using numerical integrations of the Boussinesq equations in rotating cylindrical domains with realistic boundary conditions, we have computed the value of the largest Lyapunov exponent lambda1 for a variety of aspect ratios and driving strengths. We study in particular the domain chaos state, which bifurcates supercritically from the conducting fluid state and involves extended propagating fron...
